Facelifted four-seaters get tweaked Pininfarina design and improved interior technology

The updated Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio have run up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed one day after the models were revealed in New York.

The facelifted coupé and convertible models get minor aesthetic tweaks as well as updated technology inside.

The Pininfarina-designed bodies feature a lightly adjusted rear bumper and a new grille with a three-dimensional design, taking inspiration from the Alfieri Concept of 2014.

Maserati 0262

Maserati has also improved the aerodynamic performance of the GranTurismo's and its drop-top sibling, using lower air ducts to reduce the former's drag coefficient from 0.33Cd to 0.32Cd. The GranCabrio improves from 0.35Cd to 0.33Cd.

The models are available only with a naturally aspirated 4.7-litre Ferrari-built petrol engine and six-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It produces 454bhp at 7000rpm and 384lb ft at 4750rpm, which enables a 0-62mph sprint of 4.8sec and a top speed of 186mph for the regular Sport coupé model. The lighter MC model trims 0.1sec and adds 1mph to those figures respectively.

Maserati 0260

Inside, Poltrona Frau leather or Alcantara and leather upholstery are available, and there's a new 8.4in capacitive infotainment touchscreen on the redesigned centre console. This adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions. There’s also a Harman Kardon Premium sound system.

It is old, and in some ways a

It is old, and in some ways a bit crappy.

But at least it has a lovely, turbo-free, engine. It is plenty fast enough for purpose, and sounds incomparably more beautiful than the blaring 3.9 turbo offered up by Ferrari now.

For that, all else should be forgiven.

I guess the word "Updated" is key here and not "New".

Bit of a let down...

As a fan of the original design, I think this one is a bit of a let down.
It just looks like a butched up version of the old model. Nothing new, more of a last of the series update with scoops and gills, before a new model emerges type design! Real shame.
