This hybrid isn't green, it's Brechin Slate metallic, don't ya know...

Here’s how to rip your new Toyota Prius’s green credentials to shreds: get it pimped.

One unnamed but well-off buyer at a London Toyota dealer has done just that.

The buyer had their new hybrid resprayed in Brechin Slate metallic – a shade normally only available on Lexus models – and doubtless releasing all kind of noxious fumes in the process.

Clearly that wouldn’t do without a complete re-upholstering of the car in soft leather. And, of course, no pimped ride is complete without some stylish rims, in this case some stainless steel Fox items.

Total cost? £32,900, which is £12,220 more than a standard top-spec Prius and less than six grand shy of the cost of a new Lexus GS 450h hybrid.

The Toyota Prius is an easy and very visible route to greenness, even if its reputation as the minicab of choice for UK drivers is now impossible to shake off
