Hardly likely to win any street races, but reasonable value.

What’s new?

Don’t be fooled by the name, the new Sport is just another trim level for the 206. Opt for a Sport over the S model and it adds 14in alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, uprated front seats and a shiny exhaust. There’s a choice of engines: 1.1 or 1.6 petrol, two diesels or, unique to the Sport, the 16-valve 1.4 petrol driven here.

Do the changes work?

The 1.4 is capable enough around town, but it’s not what you’d call sporting. The body addenda does little to add to the ageing but attractive 206 and the alloy wheels look tiny.

So should I buy one?

If you’re set on a 206 then the Sport looks reasonable value at around a £500 premium.
