American EV firm Lucid has cranked up its Gravity SUV to 1070bhp, creating a seven-seater that can keep up with most full-blown supercars.
The new Lucid Gravity GT-S, revealed today at Monterey Car Week, follows a similar recipe to the warp-speed Sapphire version of the Lucid Air saloon, and is said to "demonstrate how Lucid continues to expand the boundaries of what a luxury electric vehicle can be".
With a 0-60mph time of just 3.1 seconds, this new range-topping version of the 2.7-tonne Gravity is comfortably the quickest seven-seater in the world (after the retirement of the Tesla Model X Plaid) - and roughly as quick off the mark as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Ferrari Amalfi and BMW M3 CS.
The Kia EV9 GT is currently the only performance-focused electric seven-seater available in the UK, but with just 501bhp needs another 1.4secs to complete the sprint.
Lucid claims that beyond pure straight-line speed, though, the Gravity GT-S is also about offering improved handling and agility over the standard car.
To which end, it comes with a Dynamic Handling package that brings independent rear-wheel steering and adaptive three-chamber air suspension that lowers at speed for optimum efficiency and stability.
The company has not given full technical details, so it remains unclear whether the GT-S has a two-motor powertrain like the standard Gravity, or the triple-motor arrangement from the Air Sapphire.
Derek Jenkins, Lucid's chief creative officer, said: "With Lucid Gravity GT-S, we've created a more expressive and exhilarating interpretation of the Gravity SUV.
"It combines extraordinary performance with the comfort, space, and versatility that define Gravity, delivering an exceptional experience for our customers that is uniquely Lucid."
The GT-S is exclusive to the US market, where it will cost the equivalent of £93k.
Lucid sells the Air and Gravity in small volumes in Europe, but will not offer them in right-hand drive. The company's first UK-bound model is set to be the mid-sized Cosmos crossover, which was previewed earlier this month ahead of a production start in 2027.
