Upgraded Juke compact SUV to go on sale this summer with new front-end design and extra personalisation

The facelifted Nissan Juke has been revealed at the Geneva motor show, and gets new engines and new corporate styling as part of its mid-life regeneration.

Visual changes on the updated car include the adoption of the Nissan family front end, featuring a larger V-shaped front grille and more prominent company badging. That features alongside newly-integrated indicator lights within the wing mirrors, updated 18-inch alloy wheels and a revised front bumper with new headlight clusters.

The rear of the Juke is much the same as before, but features a new lower bumper design and revised rear light clusters. One of the more practical changes to come with the revised car is the addition of a false floor in its boot, which increases the standard load space of 250 litres to 350 litres with the floor removed on two-wheel-drive models.

Inside, the Juke retains its compact proportions, with higher-specification models benefitting from Nissan’s new personalisation package, allowing owners to choose from a pre-set range of colours for the wheels, grille and bumper inserts, seat stitching and parts of the interior trim.

The facelifted Juke keeps its broad range of engines, but gets an additional choice in the form of the 113bhp, 140lb ft 1.2-litre DIG-T powerplant from the new Qashqai.

Elsewhere, the Juke retains its naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine in both 93bhp/103lb ft and 115bhp/116lb ft forms, as well as the 1.5-litre dCi with 108bhp and 191lb ft. Topping out the range is the 1.6-litre DIG-T with 187bhp and 117lb ft. Transmission options include five and six-speed manuals, plus a six-speed Xtronic CVT on four-wheel-drive models.

The new Nissan Juke will go on sale in the UK this summer, with an updated version of the Juke Nismo RS expected at the same time.

Being a fan of the quirky

Being a fan of the quirky I've always liked the Juke. This facelift is decent enough, though I'm not sure if the adoption of so many ' tick' shape light units at the front and in the mirrors is a good idea. What it has needed, though is a decent petrol engine: Hopefully the 1.2 DIG-T engine will come with a 6 speed box, and will answer owners criticisms of the current 1.6 engine with regards to fuel consumption and low gearing.

I like a Juke ...

... as much as the next person for being so much bold and off-the-beaten path, but there is that pursed front and those on-the-bonnet eerie lights. This upgrade tweaks but keeps these elements and in these pictures looks a wee better. I may like to see it in metal.

The Juke has to be an odds on

The Juke has to be an odds on certainty for the title of Worlds Ugliest Car. The first iteration held the title in my book and this one does not slip one place down the list. Ugh!!

Why facelift it when its ears are already above its eyes?
