1935 FORD SHOP TRUCK: Purchased by Gene Winfield, this 1935 truck was originally restored in March 1960. It was then sold in 1965 "to a guy named Buddy who lived in Oregon", and lost for years, before being found and restored in 2008.

FORD ECONOLINE BACK-UP PICK-UP: This oddity is a recreation of a machine created to tour drag strips in the late 1960s and early '70s, and it could run a full quarter-mile on its rear wheels alone. Which were sort of the front wheels, since the whole thing was engineered to work the other way round...

FORD ECONOLINE BACK-UP PICK-UP: Power for the original Back-Up Pick-Up came from a Ford FE engine that produced 500hp. For the recreation, Galpin Ford used an FE engine - which can produce 950hp

FORD GT: Alright, it's not new, and it's not particularly odd, but we could had to find a way to get a pic of the Ford GT in our LA coverage somewhere. Look at it!

FORD FUSION NASCAR: This is a Stewart Haas Racing Ford Fusion as campaigned by Kevin Harvick in this year's NASCAR Cup Series. Harvick was, indeed, freaky fast, emerging from NASCAR's overly-complicated championship format system as one of four drivers in with a shout of the crown in the season finale. He didn't win though...

FORD F100 SHOP TRUCK: This 1956 truck was originally bought in the LA area by 'Big Daddy' Roth, before being sold and eventually ending up in a barn on Oklahoma. It was acquired in 2016, before an extensive rebuild at Galpin Speed Shop

RAM 4500 CHASSIS CAB: RAM ensured everything safety levels were high at the show, by putting this Los Angeles Fire Department rescue unit on its stand...

FORD POLICE RESPONDER HYBRID: Ford also got in on the emergency services show car, displaying this machine - the first 'pursuit-rated' hybrid police car. It will allow the Police to chase down criminals and achieve great fuel economy while doing so. Result!

HENRY J DRAG CAR: This machine, also known as 'Henry Jaded', is based on a 1952 saloon. Owner Dave Shuten gave creators Galpin Auto Sports the brief to make something that was "cartoony looking". Job done, we'd say

POLARIS SLINGSHOT: This is a customised version of the Polaris Slingshot, a machine its creators "dare you to categorise". They refer to it as both an open-air roadster and a three-wheel motorcycle.

MACH 4 DRAG RACING CAR: Why is this dragster, built by Gary Weckesser and used from 1969-1975, called the Mach 4? Simple: it had four engines...

MACH 4 DRAG RACING CAR: ...and here they all are. Total power output? Around 3000hp. We suspect the MPG rating might not be so impressive

MAZDA MIATA MX-5 ROCKET BUNNY: In case you didn't know, Rocket Bunny is the name of a firm that makes aftermarket aero kits

GMC SIERRA 2500HD ALL-TERRAIN CONCEPT: Sometimes, when conditions get really slippery, normal wheels just aren't grippy enough to lay down the 445hp produced by the Sierra 2500HD's 6.6-litre turbodiesel V8 engine. Sticking Mattracks 150 Series Tracks where the wheels go should help

VOLKSWAGEN ATLAS: This isn't a normal version of VW's large North American SUV - it's a deep country off-road concept developed by stunt driver, rallycross racer and TV presenter Tanner Foust
